01

Engine oil dipstick and filler cap

Location: Find the oil dipstick handle and the oil filler cap on top of the engine.

How to check: Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, then remove it again to check the oil level.

Correct level: The oil should sit between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick.

Test answer: “I would check the oil level using the dipstick, making sure it is between the minimum and maximum marks.”

Engine coolant tank

Location: Look for the translucent coolant reservoir under the bonnet with level markings on the side.

How to check: Only check the coolant when the engine is cold. The fluid should be between the MIN and MAX marks.

Correct coolant: Use the coolant type listed in the Hyundai i20 owner’s handbook and do not mix random coolant types.

Safety warning: Never remove the coolant cap while the engine is hot.

Screen wash reservoir

Location: Look for the screen wash filler cap, usually marked with a windscreen-washer symbol.

How to check: Open the cap and visually check whether the reservoir needs topping up.

Top-up: Use a proper screen wash mixture, especially during winter.

Test answer: “I would check the screen wash by opening the filler cap and topping it up with screen wash if needed.”
Hyundai i20 brake fluid reservoir inside the engine bay
04

Brake fluid reservoir

Location: Usually towards the rear of the engine bay near the bulkhead.

How to check: Look at the side of the reservoir and make sure the brake fluid is between the MIN and MAX marks.

Safety note: If the level is low, do not simply top it up and continue driving. Have it checked by a garage.

Test answer: “I would check the brake fluid level is between the minimum and maximum marks. If it is low, I would get it checked before driving.”
