What each part does and how to check it

Ford Fiesta EcoBoost brake fluid reservoir inside the engine bay
01

Brake fluid reservoir

Location: At the rear of the engine bay, identified by the cap with a yellow brake symbol.

Engine coolant tank

Location: At the rear of the engine bay next to the brake fluid reservoir, with a black pressure cap.

How to check: Only check when the engine is cold. The coolant should be between the MIN and MAX marks.

Important: If the car regularly needs coolant, have it checked for a leak or another engine problem.

Safety warning: Never open the coolant cap while the engine is hot.

Engine oil dipstick

Location: Near the centre of the engine bay and identified by its yellow handle.

How to check: Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, then remove it again and check the oil is between the two level marks.

Top-up: Use the correct grade of oil through the filler cap and avoid overfilling.

Test answer: “I would check the oil using the dipstick, making sure the level is between the minimum and maximum marks.”
Ford Fiesta EcoBoost blue screen wash reservoir cap
04

Screen wash bottle

Location: At the front of the engine bay, identified by the blue cap and windscreen-washer symbol.
